Where is TMS going?

Like the yet to be harnessed potential capacity of the travel and tourism industry in the Philippines, UP TMS is striving to become a name in the Institute, the national university, and the societies outside of the academic hectares. The Society's vision is clear and simple, nothing more than a sentence and/or a clause, and although some may say that this entails a vague route to somewhere, in essence, the one-liner foresight is a structure of many structures.

Since inception, perhaps, the Society has already been targeting one goal in existence. That goal is not a chunk of ambiguous and blurred words. We have always believed that we can make leaders out of our members, this we hope to achieve through our plans, leaders specifically inclined to promoting tourism, developing lines of efficient and empowered men and women, and cooperating with institutions and organizations for tourism's rise in the economic journals.

This year, after voluminous talks in canteens over lunches, TMS shall accelerate its drive along the route to somewhere. After asking strangers of what the direction of success town is, we have decided to produce our own direction, challenging as it may sound.

How many times have you done this, ignoring the advise of locals to where your destination really is? Maybe a few, perhaps not at all. But for the Tourism Management Society, we are bracing ourselves to the environment that is Philippines in real life. Following mere traditions of activities, this cultural discipleship, without prior evaluation and SWOT analysis is no longer appropriate, because what our members want is real purpose.

So where exactly is TMS going this year? To that somewhere hidden behind Mt. Everest? I have believed that TMS shall not be stopping there, to that place in Tibet behind the Everest, for the TMS path is a never-ending road, a sort of Alpha-Omega highway, a sort of IKOT jeep that stops but never atually has an end destination.

For as long as our mission is plain and clear: to develop leaders of the industry, we shall remain in the highway. We will drive across fields and cities and bring our members to every sector of the tourism industry. Educate them, train them, make them socially aware, relevant, and involved.

UP's venue for travel and tourism leadership is not a room in AIT or in the College of Business Admin. It's actually a simple route. And we, the TMS, your ride.
