TMS joins heritage conservation

In cooperation with the Heritage Conservation Society (HCS), the organization hosted a forum entitled "Preserve, Protect, and Manage" in Palma Hall 400 in Sept. 30.

The seminar aimed to educate students most especially those taking up tourism on the importance of preserving Filipino heritage.

Architect Luis Mata introduced to the audience some heritage terms and concepts like adaptvie reuse that are needed to fully understand conservation. Mr. Richard Bautista talked about packaging heritage sites for tourism and his experience in Malabon.

Lola Grande Foundation's Sylvia Lichauco amazed the audience with her unique story in Sta. Ana and how she fights in preserving colonial houses and landmarks in her area. Lastly, Mr. Ivan Henares wrapped up the event by giving a gist of Republic Act No. 10066 or the "Cultural Heritage Act of 2010."

Protect, Preserve, and Manage was a project of Managing Director for External Affairs Kim Gorospe through the team leadership of Marian Magsino and her members Mimi Mabanta, Charm Dalisay, and Charm Cadelina.
